Level 3

High Beginner (Level 3):

This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:30pm or Monday-Tuesday from 9:00am-6:30pm

8 week session.

At this stage, the student will learn how to composite simple sentences and write on a simple level using description and narration. They will be able to talk and write about their childhood, their lifestyle, technology issues, travel plans, personality features, and so on. Students will attain a stronger sense of sentence structure and have a larger vocabulary to communicate and translate ideas from sentences into paragraphs. The student will depart from the basic beginner’s grasp of English to a more intermediate grasp of the language. The student will be better able to describe situations and requests. They will embark on expression of abstract ideas and begin to build a foundation to convey abstract ideas. Grammar will focus on strengthening their knowledge of the simple present tenses, simple past tenses, perfect tenses, future tense, and more advanced grammar tenses such as the past progressive. They will also learn transitional words and phrases that will help to make their speech and writing smoother and more fluent.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1&2 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 2 test or appropriate score on placement test
